How Cyborg Biology Would Work

What if human bodies were able to incorporate any material? When one organ fails, a roll of paper towels could replace it. How Cyborg Biology Would Work is a collection of fragile and precarious sculptural objects that reference my interests in the increasingly synthetic and disappearing human body. Through implants and prosthesis the human body is becoming progressively artificial, a cyborg. My work engages formal concerns of balance, color and scale in combination with ubiquitous materials to create fragile and corporeal sculptures, which resemble anatomy. Through asymmetrical balance, gestures of mending, and bricolage, I create fragile and vulnerable sculptures that exist in different states of degeneration.
